Getting to Know....the Artist/MuseumArt History with Robin Steinhardt
A Getty docent for 10 years Robin’s knowledge and skill as an artist, docent and teacher of 45 years makes art history fun to learn, provocative and inspirational.
On the fourth Wednesday of each month, Robin will invite you to slow down, look deeply, and truly connect with the artwork. She will ask thought-provoking questions about how a piece makes you feel and what you see in it, guiding you beyond surface impressions. Along the way, she’ll share insights into the artists, their creative processes, and the historical periods they lived in. More than just an art lecture, this is an immersive experience—one that encourages you to engage with art in a meaningful way.
Fee: $20 each session, registration in advance or at the door

June 25, Session Four: Gustav Klimt Gustav Klimt was a 19th century Austrian painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. He was known for the highly decorative style and erotic nature of his works, which were seen as a rebellion against the traditional academic art of his time. His most famous paintings are The Kiss and Portrait of Adele Bloch.

April 23, Session Two: Pablo PicassoPablo Picasso, born in Spain and flourishing in Paris, transformed the art world by breaking away from traditional realism and pioneering abstract forms. In her class at the Buenaventura Art Center, Robin will guide participants through Picasso’s revolutionary techniques and ideas.
May 28, Session Three: Henri Matisse Henri Matisse was one of the most inventive and groundbreaking artists of the 20th century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing, displayed in a body of work spanning over a half-century, won him recognition as a leading figure in modern art. Matisse began to experiment with impressionism and is known for his use of bold color and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a also a printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter.
